The Boosters was formed out of the need to provide equipment and furnishings, not funded by the town, for the original Senior Center building at 230 Webster Street. Over $100,000 was raised between 2001-2003 through membership drives, social and recreational events, major benefactor contributions, memorial bricks and benches and other fundraising activities. The Boosters incorporated on March 26, 2001 and although it is independent of the Council on Aging, its mission is to financially support the Marshfield COA. The Boosters is a Massachusetts Chapter 180 non-profit corporation certified by the IRS as a Section 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization assuring donors of income tax deductibility of their contributions and exempts the Boosters from certain federal excise and income taxes and state taxes.
